MYX.tv released!

Posted under MYX NEWS

MYX, a new music lifestyle channel and subsidiary of ABS-CBN Inc., announced that it will debut its website, http://www.myx.tv/, on February 2nd, 2007 in anticipation of its upcoming channel launch. The web launch represents the formal introduction of the MYX brand in the United States, and makes the start of the first nationally-distributed music channel built specifically for the fast-growing Asian-American market. The website will serve as key component in delivering the overall MYX experience by offering a wide variety of interactive features to allow easy communication and collaboration amongst members of the MYX community. At launch, the website will feature original online music programming as well as previews of shows that will air on the network.

“There’s an audience out there that’s hungry for music, in all different shapes and sizes,” noted MYX Channel Head, Audie Vergara. “Our website will play an integral part in helping to give our viewers more of waht they want. We want our community to take an active part in shaping the future of our channel. We recognize the power that interactivity has had and will have on the way we listen to music. Coincidentally, the rapid growth of the Asian-American youth population falls in tandem with these technological advances. There’s a big opportunity here to really influence the direction that this industry is headed in the near future.”

Primarily targetting the 15-24 year-old Asian-American market, MYX also seeks to build a presence in the larger US and overseas youth markets. Music ont he channel will feature US Domestic and Asian content, as well as an emphasis on independent artists.

Somewhere between J-Pop and J-Lo, there sits an emerging population of Americans who hunger for a little more than the standard playlist. The “same old, same old” simply won’t satiate their appetite for a fresh groove. They want a dash of Beijing to go with their Brooklyn. They want their hip-hop and their anime, too. They want MYX.

Fusing together all of the pop influences that make up this community, MYX seeks to cultivate a new marketplace for music, entertainment, fashion and style that reflects the growing diversity in today’s youth culture. It’s not just about being Asian, or about being American; it’s about appreciating and experiencing the innovative by-products of ethnic crossover.

And so we’ve come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

Posted under MYX NEWS

On this day we celebrate a man who has given all of us soemthing more than just a dream. He gave us hope. He gave us faith. And most importantly he gave us a wealth of knowledge that to this day, continues to enrich us all.

He stood for many things. He stood for many people, and to that I say, thank you.

He, as did many with him, show us how to stand for what we believe and to do it in the face of a population who would rather you buckle and do as your told.

To this conviction (one not as meaningful as Martin Luther King’s, but it is mine as it is others) that I say we take a stand.
For years so many have died and so many of you have continued to stay silent. You live your days with arrogance and ignorance that if you were to turn your head and notice, it would be the first time we would see your face. Ignorance is bliss and your atitude has nulified the injustice that continues.

To that end, for the greater good, we are with you on this day to remind you that ignorance is not a value but a choice you live with.

And so I ay hello. For we will be getting to know each other for quite a while. I hope you’re comfortable.
