Let’s get right to the point: The new video for Beyoncé’s “Sweet Dreams” is instantly one of the finest of the year. It’s got everything you could possibly want in a Beyoncé clip: Lots of crazy rhythmic dancing, kooky costumes and Ms. Knowles morphing into a cyborg. In fact, it recalls another incredibly trippy video also starring a diva and dealing with dreaming. Madonna’s Mark Romanek-directed clip for “Bedtime Story” is by far the singer’s oddest and contains some unforgettable dream imagery (Madge’s mouth-eyes could be the sort of “beautiful nightmare” that Beyoncé is talking about).
